July, the 7th

It’s 10 past midnight here, so it’s the 7th now. In case you didn’t notice it (yet..), I’m not at Akademy. That’s because of exams. Anyway, no need for good luck: I’m the teacher, not the student..

Over than exams, last week I had a terrible stomachache with flu and so on. I lost a lot of important things: first akademy impressions, KDE browser (s) debates, sw announces and releases. And I have more than 2 thousands of mails to read!!

So, how long is a week for you?

My doctor (uhm.. wife) said I have not to * this week. She spokes 15 minutes: choose something, drink coffee, drink alcohol, smoke,etc.. and replace the asterisc

To not stress my stomach, she said.. one week, again…

rekonq 0.1

Here we are again, speaking about rekonq 0.1 release. This is intended to be just as 1st “inside KDE” public release. In fact, from now on, rekonq is a fully supported KDE project: we have one mailing list, one IRC channel and especially an account on kde bugzilla for our bugs and your feature requests. What can I say more? I’m really proud of it! And we have also a lot of people that like this “child browser” and are supporting us. I really wanna thank you all

What else? Two things. First, rekonq 0.1 is obviously NOT ready for production nor feature complete. Take it just as a technology preview. Quite stable, I hope, but just that. If you are really interested on, read full changelog and information on rekonq site.

Second, development season restarts, stay tuned!

rekonq 0.1alpha

Here we are again, speaking about rekonq 0.1alpha release. If you just know rekonq and are interested in new features and code, take a look at announce in our mailing list or in our site.

On the contrary, if you don’t know, rekonq is a lightweight browser for KDE, based on webkit.  This release starts a new era in rekonq development: as promised, I’m (trying to) copying code to kde svn (playground/network/rekonq). And from now on, there are (at least) three new developers helping me on and some others providing hints, support and translations.

The alpha tag is due to the string freeze (we are providing Italian, Russian, German and … (?) translations) and to our first serious bug fix period.

Development is moving to port rekonq to WebkitKDE (the bindings, NOT the kpart). In case you are interested, contact us on #rekonq channel on freenode or through our new mailing list.

easter holidays: Thailand!!

take this like a macro twitter post: I’m going in Thailand. And I’ll be there for two weeks. Not sure I can have internet connection there. But I’ll have my laptop with me. Next will be a thailand rekonq version
