rekonq 0.7 alpha 2

A really short post this evening, to announce the immediate availability of rekonq 0.6.85 AKA rekonq 0.7 alpha 2.
This is just a WIP release to let people taste all bugfixes since 0.6.80 and to start the string freeze for the 0.7 stable release.
Ok, I just know it, next question is: “when the 0.7 stable will be released?”.
Short answer: “ASAP” ๐Ÿ˜€
Long answer: “I yet don’t know when, but I can ensure we will have a new release (0.7 beta?) in the mid of March, including all the ready translations, to let people play with the domesticated beast” ๐Ÿ˜‰
medium length answer: “When all the bugs targetted for 0.7 will be fixed”.

great to hear! keep up the good work!

  3. Hey,
great to hear and see the progress you guys made. I love this browser.

Anyway, may i ask about the status of chromium extension integration? Currently missing extensions in rekonq for me (and as i hear from friends) is the biggest reason not using rekonq on a daily basis.

Plugins support is planned for 0.8 version. I hope it could have chromium extension support since its first release…

  4. There are two things that disturb my workflow with rekonq:

The first is that rekonq doesn’t load URL’s when I middle-click in the browser window with a URL in the copy/paste buffer. I regularly select URLs and then middle click them somewhere in the browser to have them loaded. Quite convenient, and at least firefox and konqi do this.

The second thing is loading of external URLs: When I enable to open tabs in the background, rekonq also does this when the browser does not have focus, i.e. when URLs are loaded from the “outside” (clicked a link in your emails, or whatever). rekonq will load these urls in background tabs, and it’ll be hard to find them back (no window title, not the active tab even if you have the right window).

Are you aware of these problems? At least the former sounds like an easy fix, I could give that a try if you have a pointer where to start this. If that’s already on your list, that’d be even more awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers, and thanks for a great browser =)

  5. Impressed with the speed of Reknoq on Kubuntu.
Dumped FireFox and Chrome on KDE !!
Question is How to compile executable for windows xp. Steps by step guide or binary with MD5 signature will be appreciated.
    Good work.
Keep it Simple and Stupid !
