Just a little note here, to let you know: rekonq 0.0.4 is out! We are having, as usual, a short changelog, but a lot of fun π
rekong has also a new site. So, in case you are interested, please click there to read news (in a while) and to download source tarballs.
And enjoy!
Congrats! Is the source code in a repository somewhere so we can see changes as they occur?
Thank you very much, Ben. Your congrats are appreciated.. twice!! In rekonq site I forgot to write about source code. I’m going to update it. That’s because it’s actually hosted on gitorious, but I’m planning to move into kde/playground.
I wonder if Rekonq or an other brand new kde browser plans to use an extension system like Firefox with Kross
Is this something you’re interrested in for Rekonq ?
Yeah, perhaps in a near future. Anyway there are other features to implement before (wallet integration, ioslaves, etc..)
Could you add screenshot section to http://rekonq.sourceforge.net/ ? please? π
Yeah. I’ll do it ASAP. This night, perhaps (UTC time..).
Hey! Just downloaded rekonq-0.0.4 to try it out, compiled with kde4 trunk, and on start I get the crash. Backtrace is at http://pastebin.ca/1363165, in case you’ll want to look into it π
Sorry about that. I’m taking a look at your backtrace.. Anyway rekonq works well here on kde 4.2 branch.
Thanks! No need to sorry, keep rocking π I’m just reporting.
Same backtrace here with 4.2 branch & qt 4.4.3
btw, it’s a failed debug assert…
rekonq(25410) SearchBar::SearchBar: setting fixed minimum width..
ASSERT: “index >= 0 && index < count()” in file widgets/qcombobox.cpp, line 2117
I think this is just fixed in master trunk.
Anyway, thank you very much for attention..
Nice work! I like the browser!
I created a nice (very) little article on your project. I also wrapped the thing up in a RPM. I also whipped up some quick screenshots in my post for the ones who are curious what it’s supposed to look like.

Keep up the good work! π
Hi adjam,
Please get fonts (font sizes) working correctly. That is stopping me from using the browser. I currently use Arora, btw because font sizes are never an issue.
However, I would love to switch to rekonq but fonts are just too small on startup. Even if I increase them in settings dialog, they don’t change by default.
Cheers.
Agree with Ken. This is great, real fast and clean. Most obvious thing from time it opens up is small font issue.
Well done!.

Hi Andrea,
rekonq compiled correctly under opensuse 11.1 kde 4.2.1. Flash seemed to work quite well, the only issue I had were with (microscopic) fonts π
I was playing around with its options checking/uncheking menus, I tried unchecking all of them but now I’m not able to bring them back since I cannot right click anywhere..any suggestions on how to bring menus back?
complimenti per il bel lavoro.
Ciao, Lorenzo. Font issues will be solved in next release. Hopefully. About hided menus.. I think you need to manually edit your .kde4/share/config/apps/rekonqrc and remove disabled status/menu bar there. Will think about something .. “different” for future!!
yup, that did it. I just realized that I compiled rekonq while there actually is an rpm available for opensuse on the factory-community repository. Community beats me!
I’ll be looking forward for next release.
ciao
Good news.. As I installed openSuse last week in my wife’s notebook!!
in that case your browser is here:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE4_Factory_Desktop/
well actually you’ll nedd to add all the factory repositories to solve dependencies.
I found a typo in the about box, the project URL is: http://rekonq.soourceforge.net/ (be warned, that link will open up one of those annoying advertisement placeholder pages with pop-up advertisements) instead of http://rekonq.sourceforge.net/. π
Yeah thanks, just fixed! Please, use sourceforge tracker (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=252277&atid=1126949) to report bugs.
i would like to try it out but i get an error when i try to compile it.
root@aegis:/home/ace/rekonq-0.0.4/build# cmake ..

Looks like a Qt related problem. Could you provide some more information like your distro and your exact Qt version?
i tried again but its the same as before:
distro: sidux (debian sid)
qt version:
root@aegis:/home/lx# qmake -v
QMake version 2.01a
Using Qt version 4.5.1 in /usr/lib
Error:
root@aegis:/home/ace/rekonq-0.0.4/build# cmake ..

hey thx for the reply. The distro i use is sidux (debian sid) and my qt version is:
ace@aegis:~$ qmake -v
QMake version 2.01a
Using Qt version 4.4.3 in /usr/lib
i hope this helps.
